Cybercab at Parramatta — they drive it in with an Xbox controller

“They drive it into the showroom with an Xbox controller plugged in by USB.”

Yesterday I wrote about Cybercab going live in the US. Today I finally stood next to one at Tesla Parramatta. Gold paint, butterfly doors up, graffiti CYBERCAB wall behind it. Could not touch it properly or sit in this one at the Sydney display centre, which is a bit of a tease when you have watched so many US ride videos, but it was still so good to see it in person.

That cabin though

Even from the open door you get the whole point of the thing. No steering wheel. No pedals. Two seats. And the screen really is big. Heaps of leg room too; the footwell is just empty lounge space. I could reach in and tap the plastic door panels, which is about as hands-on as this display let me get, and that was enough to grin like an idiot.

Butterfly doors, and an Xbox controller

The doors are the party trick. Rear three-quarter with the red light bar lit, high side shot with the TESLA wall, gold disc covers matching the body. This is the unsupervised lounge people in the US are already riding in, including older passengers who just want a door that comes to them. Best detail of the visit though: a Tesla employee told me they drive it into the showroom with an Xbox controller plugged in by USB. Of course they do. That is peak Elon product energy and I love it.

Also: Model Y L, and people who missed the plot

I was also looking at the Model Y L while I was there, and it was great. Adjustable head rests, which our Model Y Bluey does not have, and that alone had me paying attention. Then some guys checking out the L did not even know about FSD. I tried to explain it and they did not believe me. There was a Cybercab literally sitting behind them. Boggles the mind.

Display only, same vibe as the Cybertruck tour years ago: metal in the room, not something you order and drive home in Australia yet. Yesterday was the US chapter. Today is Parramatta gold, a massive screen, heaps of leg room, an Xbox-controller move-in story, and a reminder that the future can be parked right behind someone who has never heard of FSD. Still grinning.
