Yesterday was my last day at TelstraSuper after 7.5 years. I wrote it up on LinkedIn here: last day at TelstraSuper.
What a stretch: the pandemic (TelstraSuper looked after us, and productivity actually went up), the move from the Melbourne office to Sydney, having our first child, and then redundancy after the fund finished trading on 30 April following the Aware Super merger.
End of an era. Everyone moving on is its own kind of exciting. Next up for us is a holiday in Japan; when we’re back I’ll look for the right DevOps/SRE role while I keep studying advanced Kubernetes and building out the homelab.
TelstraSuper will be a hard place to beat — great culture, an award-winning fund that punched above its weight in super tech. The merger may have been the right call for members. It still hurts to close the door.
