A few months in, the Model Y still feels like a good call. We call it Bluey — glacier blue, toddler-approved naming. Our three-year-old loves the quiet cabin, the big screen, and the surreal bit where the car drives itself under supervision while he narrates the trip.
FSD (Supervised), once the update finally rolled after that subscription wait, has been the daily surprise. Not flawless, not “go to sleep,” but competent enough on Sydney roads that you start planning around it instead of around traffic stress. Supervision stays non-negotiable; the value is how often you’re intervening less.
Charging has been almost boring — in a good way. Shopping-mall free chargers cover the week. We never installed a home charger. The exception was Christmas: a Melbourne road trip with properly fast Supercharging on the highway and AC overnight at Dad’s. Arrive, plug in, done. The old range-anxiety storyboard never really got a scene.
Long-term thesis meet family car. Still glad we waited for HW4 and Juniper.
